Getting Started

Welcome to Boarbs! This guide will walk you through setting up your first feature board and getting it ready to collect user feedback.

Quick Start

Get your feature board live in under 2 minutes:

1. Sign up and create your organization
2. Access your default "Main" board
3. Customize board settings
4. Share the public URL with your users
5. Optionally, embed it in your app

Step 1: Sign Up and Create Organization

Create your Boarbs account and set up your organization. During signup, you'll be prompted to create an organization which will serve as the workspace for your feature boards.

Once your organization is created, Boarbs automatically creates a default "Main" board with sample posts to help you get started quickly.

Step 2: Access Your Default Main Board

After signup, you'll immediately see your default "Main" board populated with sample posts in different status columns:

• Inbox: New feature requests waiting for review
• Review: Requests being evaluated by your team
• Planned: Approved features scheduled for development
• In Progress: Features currently being built
• Completed: Shipped features
• Rejected: Requests that won't be implemented

The sample posts show you how feature requests will appear and can be deleted once you're familiar with the interface.

Step 3: Customize Board Settings

Click on your board settings to customize how your feature board works:

• Board Name: Change from "Main" to something specific to your product
• Description: Add context about what feedback you're collecting
• Visibility: Toggle between public (anyone can view) or private (team only)
• Board Slug: Customize your board's URL identifier

Step 4: Share Public URL with Users

Your board is accessible via a subdomain URL in the format:

https://yourboard.boarbs.com

Share this URL with your users so they can:

• View existing feature requests
• Vote on features they want
• Submit new ideas
• Comment and discuss

No login is required for your users to interact with the board. They'll only be prompted for an email when they vote or comment for the first time.

Step 5: Embed in Your App (Optional)

For a seamless experience, you can embed Boarbs directly in your application. This allows users to submit feedback without leaving your product.

To set up embedding:

1. Generate an API key from your settings
2. Create embed sessions from your backend
3. Render the iframe with the session token

Managing Your Feature Board

Creating Posts

Your team can create posts on behalf of users or manually add feedback:

1. Click "Create Post" in the dashboard
2. Add title and description
3. Optionally set status and tags
4. Assign to team members (coming soon)

Public users can also submit ideas directly through your public board without any login.

Organizing Feedback

Move posts through your workflow by changing their status:

• Drag posts in the list view (coming soon: kanban view)
• Use the status dropdown in post details
• Bulk actions for multiple posts

Voting and Engagement

Track user interest through votes and comments:

• Vote counts show feature demand
• Comments enable discussion and clarification
• Internal notes for private team coordination

Common Tasks

Adding Team Members

Invite team members to help manage feedback:

1. Go to organization settings
2. Click "Invite Member"
3. Enter their email address
4. They'll receive an invitation to join

Creating Additional Boards

Need separate boards for different products?

1. Navigate to the boards page
2. Click "Create Board"
3. Set name, description, and visibility
4. Start collecting feedback

Generating API Keys

For programmatic access or embedding:

1. Go to Settings → API Keys
2. Click "Create API Key"
3. Choose permissions (read-only or read-write)
4. Copy and securely store your key

Managing Posts

Efficiently triage user feedback:

• Filter: By status, tags, or assigned member
• Search: Find specific requests quickly
• Merge: Combine duplicate requests
• Status Updates: Move posts through your workflow
