Quickstart
Create your workspace, review the default setup, and publish your Boarbs portal in a few minutes.
This page walks through the fastest realistic setup for a new Boarbs workspace.
1. Create an Organization
Create your account with email and password, Google, or GitHub. You can use Google or GitHub again when you log in, while email magic links and passkeys remain available. After signing up, create your first organization. In Boarbs, the organization is your workspace.
Once the organization exists, Boarbs automatically creates:
- a public
Mainboard - default statuses for new and active work
- a default
Main Roadmap - sample posts so you can explore the UI with real data
2. Review the Default Board
Open your dashboard and inspect the Main board. This is your default place for collecting feedback.
The board starts with these statuses:
InboxPlannedIn ProgressCompletedCanceled
You can keep this setup, rename statuses, or create your own workflow later in Settings → Statuses.
If you need additional boards for different products or teams, add them in Settings → Boards.
3. Check Your Public Portal
Every workspace gets a hosted portal on its subdomain, for example:
https://acme.boarbs.comFrom there, visitors can browse public boards and, if you allow it, vote, comment, and subscribe to updates.
Your public roadmap is available under:
https://acme.boarbs.com/roadmap4. Customize the Public Experience
Open Settings → General and review these options before sharing your portal:
- upload your logo
- set a primary color
- choose the email theme
- enable or disable guest interactions
If guest interactions stay enabled, visitors can participate without creating a full account first. If you disable them, users need to sign in before interacting.
5. Invite Your Team
Go to Settings → Members and invite teammates. This is useful when multiple people need to:
- review new requests
- move posts between statuses
- reply to users
- keep the roadmap up to date
6. Choose Your Launch Path
Once the basics look right, choose the distribution model that fits your product:
- Hosted portal for the fastest rollout: Portal guide
- Embedded board if you want Boarbs inside your app: Embed guide
- API integration if your backend should create sessions or sync data: API
- CLI automation for scripts and operational workflows: CLI reference
Recommended First Week Checklist
- remove or replace the sample posts
- verify which boards should be public
- confirm roadmap visibility and sorting
- invite your internal team
- share the portal link with a few early users
- decide whether you need embed or API access yet
At this point, most teams are ready to start collecting real feedback.
