Mark Spam Posts
Soft-close unrelated or spam posts so they leave the public board without moving them to Canceled, and optionally send the author a diplomatic note.
Some submissions are unrelated, promotional, or in the wrong place. Those should not sit in Canceled next to real requests you declined.
Boarbs gives operators a dedicated Spam action: a diplomatic soft-close that hides the post from the public board.
Mark a Post as Spam
Organization members can open a post and select Spam.
- open the post
- select Spam
- optionally write a message for the author
- optionally check Inform the post author
- confirm
The post leaves the public board immediately. It is not moved to Canceled.
On the internal board it also leaves the default list. To find it again, open Filter → Status (or the Status list in the sidebar) and select Spam. That view shows only posts marked as spam.
Open a spam post from that list to read it. Use Not spam or change its status to put it back on the board.
What the Author Sees
Informing the author is optional.
When you do inform them, they receive a closed or unclear-fit note. They can also see your optional message.
They never see the word Spam, and they are not told the post was marked as spam. Use the message for a practical next step, for example asking them to contact the right team.
If you do not inform the author, no email is sent.
What visitors see
Portal, Widget, and Embed never show spam posts. There is no public Spam tab.
What Spam Does Not Do
Spam does not currently:
- ban the author
- auto-detect junk submissions
- apply to several posts at once
- mix spam posts into
Canceled
Use Delete when you need to remove a post entirely, and use Canceled when a real request was reviewed and declined. Use the internal Spam status filter when you need those posts again.
