Customize Your Portal
Change branding, public behavior, board presentation, and roadmap presentation without losing clarity.
Boarbs branding is spread across a few settings areas, but the model is straightforward once you know where each decision lives.
General Branding Settings
Open Settings → General for the workspace-level public setup.
This is where you manage:
- organization logo
- organization name
- primary color
- email theme
- Public language: Automatic, English, or Deutsch; visitors can switch in the portal footer
- Remove Boarbs branding on outbound emails (Pro)
- guest interactions
- up to five ordered footer links for the hosted portal
- Speak as the organization for public team comments and activity
These settings shape the overall look and behavior of the hosted portal.
Board-Level Customization
Open Settings → Boards when you want to customize how individual boards feel.
For each board, you can control:
- name
- description
- icon
- visibility (
PUBLICorPRIVATE)
This is the right place to make boards understandable to users before you share them.
Roadmap-Level Customization
Open Settings → Roadmaps when you want the public planning view to feel intentional.
For each roadmap, you can control:
- name
- description
- icon
- visibility
- sorting
- columns and their visibility
- filters that decide which posts appear
This matters more than color tweaks once customers actually start relying on the roadmap.
What to Customize First
If you are just launching, prioritize in this order:
- logo
- organization name
- primary color
- board names and descriptions
- roadmap names and visibility
- guest interaction rules
That sequence produces the biggest public quality jump with the least effort.
Keep the Public Experience Clear
A good branded portal is not only about aesthetics.
It should also be:
- easy to understand
- consistent with your product language
- clear about what is public and what is internal
- simple enough that users know where to click first
Common Customization Mistakes
- keeping internal board names public
- publishing too many boards too early
- using vague roadmap names
- changing colors before fixing structure and copy
- forgetting that guest interaction rules affect the whole public workflow
What Boarbs Does Not Yet Expose as a Simple Branding Toggle
Custom CMS headers and custom CSS are outside these settings. See Public language for the portal language setting.
